More Details On The Smackdown Survivor Series Women’s Qualifier Finish

WWE was in chaos Friday as the script was torn up and rewritten for Smackdown after Vince McMahon rejected everything to begin with. The script showed a couple of surprises on the show, with the appearance of Drew McIntyre from Raw and the debut of Chelsea Green.

Green’s debut was notable not only because she lost her debut in a fatal four-way to qualify for Survivor Series, but also injured herself. Liv Morgan won the match and we reported this was the initial plan for the match. Now we have more clarification on that thanks to a report by Ringside News.

Morgan was the original winner in the first draft, the version of the script that was rejected before it was completely re-written from Thursday night’s draft the creative team submitted. While Green’s debut wasn’t spontaneous, we can now clarify how things surrounding her were supposed to go.

Green’s debut was not a last minute decision, as she did have to get tested for COVID-19 prior to being at the arena, the decision for her debut was made Wednesday night. Despite multiple changes between then and the show, Green was originally scheduled to win before suffering her injury. With the injury happening, an audible was called to go back to the originally planned winner, Liv Morgan.

The long and short of it is that while Morgan wasn’t supposed to win in the draft of the script that was approved for airtime, but she had been scheduled to win at some point and plans reverted to that due to Green’s injury. Now, in a move that makes a little more sense continuity wise, both Riott Squad members are on the Smackdown Women’s Survivor Series team.
