Yesterday, we reported that WWE have dropped their renewal of the trademark for the name Cody Rhodes. Cody quickly took advantage of this and cut a promo last night calling himself Cody Rhodes in a post-show promo that was filmed by a fan in attendance.
The question after these news reports is if Cody would start to use his reacquired last name for the purpose of wrestling, and now we have an answer.
During today’s media call for Full Gear, Cody revealed that he would not be using the last name Rhodes on AEW programming, having wanted to acquire the name for third party usage. For example, with Cody being part of the upcoming The Go Big Show, he can be referred to as Cody Rhodes.
Cody went on to say there are no hard feelings between him and the WWE for the trademark, but it is good to see Cody get back his legacy name.
