Gerald Brisco Confirms WWE Release

WWE has cut ties with WWE Hall of Famer Gerald Brisco.

In a tweet Thursday morning, Brisco said he received a call from WWE Chairman Vince McMahon saying that his services were no longer needed after 36 years with the company.

Brisco, who debuted in 1969 and held titles across the NWA, debuted with the WWE in 1984, teaming with his brother Jack against then WWF World Tag Team Champions Adrian Adonis and Dick Murdoch. The Brisco Brothers were inducted together into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2008. Both Briscos retired soon after with Gerald continuing to work as a road agent and booker for WWE.

Brisco’s run with WWE is best known as one half of McMahon’s “Stooges” with fellow Hall of Famer Pat Patterson. Brisco briefly held the WWF Hardcore Championship twice in 2000 and was last seen on the RAW Reunion episode in July 2019, winning the WWE 24/7 Championship.

Brisco was one of several furloughed by WWE in April due to budget cuts related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a follow-up tweet, Brisco asked for some space following the release before agreeing to do any interviews.
