WWE announced that Eric Bischoff will serve as the new Executive Director of SmackDown Live, his will officially begin his role on the SmackDown following the Extreme Rules PPV. While it isn’t known exactly how much of an influence Bischoff will be allowed to have over SmackDown, it is said to be a “wait and see” situation.
According to a report from Brad Shepard on the latest episode of the “Oh, You Didn’t Know Wrestling Show,” that overall people backstage in WWE were happy for Eric Bischoff after being brought back to the company. In addition it was said that Bischoff has been described as a “sponge” and “inventive” since his return.
Regarding Eric Bischoff’s return to WWE, Shepard said:
“Internally everyone was shocked at the Bischoff signing. They’re happy for him, but believe the key will be as I’ve talked about how much Vince is going to lean back and allow Eric and of course, Paul on Raw as well to control the show. Eric has already been described to me as a sponge and inventive.”
