More On Reasoning For WWE Bringing Back Eric Bischoff

It was announced last week that WWE has brought in Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff to serve as Executive Directors of RAW and SmackDown Live. With Bischoff now running the helm of SDLive, many have wondered why he was chosen for the role after being away from wrestling for so long.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed WWE’s decision to bring back Eric Bischoff into the role of SmackDown’s Executive Director. While he wasn’t exactly clear of the reasoning, he did have some input stating that Bischoff was brought in to help give investors more faith in the company as WWE’s stock price has not been doing well as of late.

WWE’s stock price has lost roughly $30 per stock unit over the last three months. It was said that Bischoff was brought in to stop that downward trend, and McMahon felt this would give stockholders more confidence in the company and will elevate the company’s value.

Being that investors and stockholders do not know professional wrestling like “wrestling fans” do, they instead only care about name recognition and cash flow. It is with this that Vince McMahon believes that bringing in the face of WCW during the Monday Night War’s will make a difference.
