Matt Hardy’s Son King Maxel Steals The 24/7 Championship From Drake Maverick During Maverick’s Wedding

When first introduced, the 24/7 Championship was met with some backlash. The fans even booed Mick Foley while making the announcement of the new title during Raw.

Rumors were that USA Network pitched the idea to WWE to help with low ratings. WWE has had a hard time keeping their product fresh, and for the 24/7 Championship to become one of the most talked about things in the company is really saying something about WWE’s current creative climate.

With the Wildcard Rule in full effect, even less television time is given to the undercard, so this 24/7 championship is like a saving grace to many on the roster. Segments involving the championship have continually garnered some of the highest views on WWE YouTube’s page, while many of the segments are not just on WWE, but the Superstars social media accounts as well.

Current champion Drake Maverick is currently getting married this weekend and the 24/7 championship has been on full display.

Many figured that Drake would be safe during his wedding. What most people didn’t know is that a cross promotional feud was about to pick back up. Drake used to wrestle for TNA:Impact wrestling, and had lost a match to King Maxel.

It turns out Maxel had his eye on the 24/7 championship.

Maverick had to put the championship down for a photo shoot and that’s when Maxel stole the championship. The belt did not change hands because there was not a referee present.

Later we saw that the two bitter rivals made up just in time for the nuptials to begin.
