Buddy Matthews Is All Elite

Professional Wrestling’s ‘best kept secret’ may be getting out soon, as Buddy Matthews is officially a member of the All Elite Wrestling roster. Matthews is best known for his tenure WWE under the name Buddy Murphy, where he held the Cruiserweight Championship and NXT Tag Team Championship before competing on the SmackDown brand. It was on SmackDown where he picked up wins against the likes of Daniel Bryan and competed against superstars such as Roman Reigns. Matthews also had a long program with Aleister Black, who currently competes in AEW as Malakai Black.

Since his WWE release, Matthews has competed in PWG, making it to the semi-finals of the Battle of Los Angeles, resulting in a loss to Speedball Mike Bailey. He’s also competed for NJPW, including a standout match against former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada in November.

On the February 23rd episode of Dynamite, Matthews made an appearance confronting Malakai Black and Brody King following their match with Death Triangle. At the end, Matthews attacked Penta El Zero M and PAC. AEW President Tony Khan has confirmed the signing of Matthews.
