TNA News & Notes: Scott D’Amore’s Offer To Buy TNA Revealed, Details From Talent Meeting With Anthem Executives, Attendance Numbers For No Surrender, More

TNA Wrestling held its first official LIVE event in years without Scott D’Amore heading the company. TNA’s No Surrender event this past Friday evening went off without a hitch. It started with Eric Young leading the rest of the talent and staff out in front of the live crowd and letting everybody in attendance know that this roster will not lay down or surrender to anybody. They will keep the legacy that they’ve created and that of others alive as they embrace the new leadership/management.

PWInsider.com reported that “there were roughly 750 fans in attendance; however, the company was originally only set up for about 600, but had to keep adding chairs and seating.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com reported on 2/22 that:

“There will be a TNA talent meeting this Saturday prior to the TV taping in New Orleans, PWInsider.com has confirmed.

As we reported earlier, there are some in the company who believe Anthem head Len Asper will be at the meeting.”

On 2/16, it was reported by Mike Johnson that:

Anthem executive Ariel Shnerer will be overseeing all TNA content going forward and will be working in conjunction with new TNA President Anthony Cicione. It will be Shnerer who will have the last word on any talent and creative decisions, although Cicione will be the top of the pyramid.

There were also new members added to the existing creative team. That report can be found here.

On 2/23 during the No Surrender event, Mike Johnson confirmed that all of the top Anthem executives were in the house for the show.

Earlier today, Fightful Select shared a few details of the aforementioned talent meeting.

Fightful was told that the meeting was planned out well ahead of time, and featured some of the bosses within the company both familiar and ones the talent will be answering to now. Some talent had spoken with higher ups individually as well.

The general feeling was that nobody wanted the roster to abandon the hard work they’ve done as a group, even if they don’t agree with the decision to replace Scott D’Amore.

We’re told that the new higher ups were open to feedback from the roster as well. Several wrestlers said that while they didn’t agree with the decision, the meeting did a good job getting them excited for the possibilities of TNA moving forward.

‘The possibilities of TNA moving forward’ is a key phrase in this report, and it will be interesting to see what that means for the company as a whole.

In this weeks issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provided some details on former TNA President Scott D’Amore’s offer to purchase the company.

“Regarding the attempt by a group headed to Scott D’Amore to purchase the company, two sources close to the negotiations and one involved said the offer was $10 million for the company. One noted for clarity that it was $10 million plus assuming all existing debts the company had as well as the trade debts, so that Anthem itself would walk away with $10 million in the bank out of the deal. The D’Amore group believed the company value was between $7 million and $12 million. Anthem turned down the offer cold without a counter offer made.”

This sounds like a great offer, which begs the question as to why Anthem did not want to sell. Maybe this means they will actually be investing in the company, and it could also mean that Scott knew what the company was worth and/or had big plans for it.

Either way, hopefully with the seemingly good talent reactions from the meeting this weekend, the talent can move forward and get past alot of the discourse surrounding the company and the locker room.
