*BREAKING* The Rock ‘100% Locked In’ to Face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, Likely Part of TKO Board of Directors Deal

The Rock will be in the ring for a match that includes Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

In case you missed it — during the Feb. 2 episode of WWE SmackDown, WWE Champion, Roman Reigns made his way down to the ring to confront Cody Rhodes. The winner of the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble Match interrupted proceedings and asked the rest of ‘The Bloodline’ to leave the ring, so he could speak to Reigns man-to-man.

Rhodes said he still wants the WWE Championship and wants a piece of Reigns…but not at WrestleMania 40…and here comes The Rock. The future WWE Hall of Famer greeted Rhodes, who then left the ring before Rock and Reigns came face-to-face as the show went off the air with a RAUCOUS crowd in attendance showered both men with dueling, deafening chants.

The Rock Reportedly ‘100% Locked In’ For a Match at WrestleMania 40

In an update provided by PWInsider, The Rock is ‘100% locked’ into competing in a match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

“There is “no scenario” where Rock is not wrestling Roman Reigns at the show, unless something unforeseen happens, like an injury.”

While that doesn’t necessarily mean The Rock will be competing in a singles match against Reigns in Philadelphia, it at least throws some cold water on the rumors of WWE pivoting to Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns 2.

WWE Reportedly Wanted Current Fan Reaction to Cody Rhodes

During the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, it was reported that WWE was expecting Cody Rhodes to have a Daniel Bryan-like (WrestleMania 30) fan reaction to seemingly being snubbed at WrestleMania 40. The pivot to The Rock vs. Roman Reigns was reportedly made to elevate Rhodes into being an even bigger babyface than he already was.

What’s Next For Cody Rhodes, The Rock, and Roman Reigns?

WWE is reportedly monitoring the public outrage and seemingly endless negative reactions from fans and wrestlers alike.

More clarity around the situation may appear when The Rock and Roman Reigns are both set for a ‘WrestleMania XL Kickoff’ press conference on Thursday, Feb. 8. Cody Rhodes will reportedly also be in town for the presser, along with WWE World Heavyweight Champion, WWE Women’s World Champion, Rhea Ripley, and former Women’s Champion, Bianca Belair, among others.

The Rock made his first public comments on his appearance this past Friday night, and those comments can be found by clicking here.
