Tetsuya Naito Believes His IWGP World Title Match With SANADA Should Be Main Event At Wrestle Kingdom 18

On January 4th, Tetsuya Naito is scheduled to challenge current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion SANADA for his title at Wrestle Kingdom 18 at the Tokyo Dome. Also on the card at Wrestle Kingdom 18, there will be a huge rematch between Kazuchika Okada and AEW superstar Bryan Danielson.

There has been an ongoing debate as to which match between the two should be closing out the biggest New Japan Pro-Wrestling of the year.

Tetsuya Naito has weighed in and offered his opinion. Naito was speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated and clearly stated through a translator which match he felt should be the main event:

I understand some people would think differently. It’s good that there are different opinions. I know Okada and Bryan are famous worldwide–but so what? I want New Japan Pro-Wrestling to have more confidence and pride in the NJPW wrestlers and our matches

The debate over which match should close the show began when Kazuchika Okada said he would be open to a fan vote to see which match should headline if in fact that’s what the fans wanted. Okada has gone on record indicating that he does feel the IWGP World Heavyweight Title match between SANADA and Tetsuya Naito should close the show.
