MJF Denies That He Has Re-Signed With AEW, Says After The PPV “It’s Time To Assess The Situation”

MJF denies reports that he has re-signed with AEW.

The current AEW World Heavyweight Champion, Maxwell Jacob Friedman has made it no secret that his AEW contract is set to expire on January 1st, 2024. MJF has teased his upcoming free agency, and the “bidding war of 2024” on numerous occasions. However, a report from Nick Hausman in November stated that there was belief within WWE that MJF had re-signed with AEW awhile back.

MJF appeared on this week’s episode of SI Media with Jimmy Traina, and addressed the reports that he had quietly re-signed with AEW earlier this year. He stated that he has never lied, and made comparisons to when it was reported that Cody had re-signed with the company, and other incorrect reports.

“I’ve never lied. January 1, 2024. When stuff like that gets leaked out, it makes me laugh because I remember something got leaked out about Cody having secretly re-signed, and then he showed up. Something got leaked out about CM Punk and Tony Khan are actually fine. I think fans leak out things that they want to be true. I love AEW, I want to stay in AEW. After this pay-per-view, it’s time to assess the situation.”

When MJF was asked outright if he had re-signed with AEW, he said:

 “Not yet”

MJF is scheduled to face Samoa Joe for the AEW World Heavyweight Title at AEW’s World’s End PPV on December 30th, 203.. two days before he is said to become a free agent.
