Yesterday during an interview with New Japan Pro Wrestling ahead of TMDK’s quest to capture the Never Openweight 6 Man Titles at Mighty Power Struggle, Sabre talked about a number of topics, including name-dropping IMPACT as a major promotion that he wants to wrestle in.
Sabre is currently contracted with New Japan Pro Wrestling and is their Strong TV Champion. Zack specifically named World Champion Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Josh Alexander, and Mike Bailey as talent he’d like to face inside of an IMPACT ring.
—Is there anywhere else you want to dip your toe in?
Zack: IMPACT. I think IMPACT is the one major promotion I haven’t wrestled in yet. Alex Shelley is their world champion, we’ve never wrestled, Chris Sabin, I don’t think we’ve wrestled. Josh Alexander as well, that would be a great matchup for me.
Sabre is currently set to defend his NJPW TV Title against Mike Bailey at the company Lone Star Shootout event on Nov 10th, however, Sabre would also like to do it inside of an IMPACT ring as well.
“Mike Bailey- we’ve faced each other a few times but I think we should do it on a major scale. And we both lost to Ospreay so this would be a chance to redeem ourselves.”
IMPACT has seen top names wrestle in IMPACT such as IWGP Champion Sanada and former IWGP Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi, as well as former IWGP Champion Will Ospreay most recently, so Zack Sabre Jr seems like a good name to bring in for a bit.
Will it happen? We’ll have to continue tuning in to find out.
