ROH and AEW Championships Change Hands at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam

AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam saw two title changes on the program. While Toni Storm was unsuccessful in winning back the AEW Women’s World Championship from Saraya, Samoa Joe was unable to dethrone MJF, and Chris Jericho lost Sammy Guevara despite his victory, two individuals would be the benefactors on this New York night.

Opening the show, Eddie Kingston and Claudio Castagnoli erupted for the ROH World Championship, donned in tribute to Toshiaki Kawada and Mitsuharu Misawa until Kingston won via a standard powerbomb (suggested by Kawada himself). After shaking Claudio’s hand, Eddie celebrated his first World Championship win during his twenty-plus year career.

Later in the evening, Rey Fenix faced off against Jon Moxley, but the news from this match was not as happy as the previous title change in the night. During the bout, Moxley failed to kick out of a pin, leading to confusion through the arena. An audible had to be called, and Rey Fenix would leave the night as champion.

Jon Moxley was able to leave the arena on the strength of his own two legs, as Excalibur pointed out on commentary later in the evening.
