Exclusive: Matt Cardona Will Face James Storm For Vacant One Pro Wrestling World Title Following Former Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay’s Exit
One Pro Wrestling have confirmed what comes next for their championships in the wake of Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay’s exit from the company.
The British independent wrestling promotion has received a lot of flak over the last few months, but none more so then with regard to paying their talent.
With accusations being slung their way from right, left and centre, the company saw no other option but to publicly deny the claims on social media, noting that only one talent, who was confirmed to us was in fact Will Ospreay, was still on a payment plan, but was fully paid up as of this writing.
Following this statement from the UK promotion, Will Ospreay announced that he had parted ways with One Pro Wrestling, wishing the promotion and its owner the best in the future both professionally and personally.
With this news, 1PW are without a heavyweight champion, and several other championships also remain vacant within the promotion, but the company already has plans in place to rectify the situation.
Bodyslam.net reached out to One Pro Wrestling to enquire what comes next for the heavyweight title now that Ospreay has amicably exited, and the promotion responded with us by confirming that all of their championships are now vacant and that the next 1PW world heavyweight champion will be decided on October 28th at Know Your Enemy as Matt Cardona and James Storm face off for the vacant title.
Between Know Your Enemy and Survival Of The Sickest on December 2nd, One Pro Wrestling will look to crown all new champions.
“In a bid to move on fresh in the second year of our return – when we enter Know Your Enemy on Saturday October 28th, all of our championship titles will be vacant. Over the course of that event (KYE) and our December 2nd event “Survival Of The Sickest” all new champions will be crowned! As a result of their standing in the industry and fulfilling our aim to have a recognisable 1PW Champion, the Matt Cardona versus James Storm match signed for October 28 will now be for the vacant 1PW World Title!”
