Yuji Nagata: My Final Goal Is To Win The IWGP World Heavyweight Championship One More Time

New Japan Pro-Wrestling legend Yuji Nagata has set the final goal of his career. While speaking with Tokyo Sports, Nagata, who is 55, stated that he is entering the final countdown to his retirement and his last goal is to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship one more time. The title is currently held by SANADA.

Yuji Nagata gave his reason as to why winning the IWGP World Heavyweight Title is the final goal of his career:

If you take it, you can retire at any time, and the reason why there are people who come back even after retirement is because many people quit with regrets somewhere. I want to do everything I do and retire. Then, as a promoter and producer, I will create various entertainment areas in Chiba Prefecture. I’m fighting with the last will, and the driving force behind my continued career is to take that belt again.

Yuji Nagata has been wrestling for All Japan Pro-Wrestling for the past year while signed to NJPW. He won the AJPW Triple Crown Title last February and had a successful run in the promotion.

Nagata is currently back in NJPW and part of a six man tag team best of seven series. Nagata is teaming with Master Wato & Shota Umino as they are facing Minoru Suzuki, Ren Narita and El Desperado in the series, Their first match was on September 10th that ended in a 30 minute time limit draw.

Yuji Nagata is the only man to ever hold all four major Heavyweight Titles in Japan making him the only Grand Slam Champion. He has held the IWGP Heavyweight Title (NJPW) twice, the World Heavyweight Title (Zero 1), The GHC Heavyweight Title (Pro Wrestling NOAH) & The Triple Crown Championship (AJPW).
