Charlotte Flair Says Botch In WrestleMania 39 Match With Rhea Ripley “Made The Match Better”

Charlotte Flair reflects on WrestleMania 39.

Flair walked into the Premium Live Event as SmackDown Women’s Champion, facing off with a familiar foe in “The Eradicator” Rhea Ripley. Ripley was coming off winning the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble match and was the fan favorite heading into the matchup.

The match was a brutal affair, as the two women went to war with each other on night one of WrestleMania 39, and after an incredible matchup, Rhea was able to pin The Queen in the middle of the ring to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion.

During the match, Rhea would hit a german suplex on the champion, with Flair flipping completely over and landing face first.

In a new interview with The Michael Kay Show, Flair recalled the spot.

“Rhea and I, this past WrestleMania, had a move in there where for a second I was like, there’s my face in the mat, ow, that wasn’t supposed to happen. I was like, ‘God I hope she doesn’t move, let me collect my breath for a second’, and if you go back, it was one of the best moments of the match, the suplex to my face when it wasn’t supposed to be that. Had that not happened, we would not have got those replays, so to me, I’m so happy I landed flat on my face. It made the match that much better.”

Ripley is set to defend her WWE Women’s World Championship at WWE Payback against Raquel Rodriguez after a lengthy feud between the pair.

We will have to wait and see if Charlotte and Rhea Ripley will have another match together in the future.
