Five Matches Announced For NJPW Destruction In Kobe Event (9/23/2023)

With G1 Climax 33 in the books, the next major New Japan Pro-Wrestling event will be Destruction in Kobe which is scheduled for September 24th at Kobe World Hall.

NJPW announced five matches today for the upcoming event. Three of the five bouts announced will be title matches.

Destruction In Kobe will feature Will Ospreay defending his IWGP US Title against one of the Reiwa Three Musketeers and LIJ faction member Yota Tsuji. As NJPW is listing the match as an IWGP US Title match, Will Ospreay has indicated that the match will be for his IWGP UK Title. Ospreay took it upon himself recently to change the name of the IWGP US Title to the IWGP UK Title. This change has not been made official by NJPW.

The G1 Climax 33 tournament winner Tetsuya Naito will face Jeff Cobb in a special singles match. Jeff Cobb, who holds a victory over Naito in the G1, feels Naito needs to get through him to truly call himself the G1 Climax winner.

The IWGP World Tag Team Titles will be on the line as the champions Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI will defend the belts against Shane Haste and Mickey Nicholls.

Here is the updated card for NJPW Destruction In Kobe on September 23rd:

  • IWGP US Championship: Will Ospreay (c) vs. Yota Tsuji
  • IWGP World Tag Team Championship: Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI (c) vs. Shane Haste & Mickey Nicholls
