Deonna Purrazzo Talks Jordynne Grace, Endorses Gisele Shaw & KiLynn King As The Future Of The Knockouts Division

Jordynne Grace wrestled her last match with IMPACT Wrestling when she lost to Deonna Purrazzo at the company LIVE Under Siege event. This was a match where Grace agreed that if she lost, she wouldn’t be able to challenge Purrazzo again as long as she was the champion.

Grace lost her match to Deonna for the vacant IMPACT Knockouts Title at Rebellion, where Deonna would become a 3x IMPACT Knockouts World Champion.

On the 6/1 episode of IMPACTonAXSTV, Grace ran down to try and save Trinity and Purrazzo from a beatdown by Shaw and her entourage, Savannah Evans and Jail Vidal. Grace was the victim of the numbers game, as well as being struck in the head with a “loaded purse”, followed by three knees to the head to lay her out. Grace was deemed “out indefinitely” and hasn’t been seen on IMPACT TV since then.

On May 26th, Fightful Select reported that Jordynne Grace was officially a free agent and finishing up with IMPACT Wrestling. Grace noted to Fightful that “I’ll be back somewhere at some point.”

On us August 1st, Grace quote tweeted a fan who asked when we can expect to see her back on national TV.

Grace commented: “maybe next year, I’m in no rush.”

While appearing on a recent edition of the Sunday Night’s Main Event Podcast, Purrazzo was asked about the future of the Knockouts Championship and who she could see becoming the next champion.

“If Jordynne Grace comes back, we don’t really know what’s happening, she’s a free agent. Nobody knows what’s next for Jordynne Grace, if she does decide to come back to Impact Wrestling, and whenever that might be, I do think that she’s out for a vengeance. We haven’t seen her since May at Under Siege when I defeated her, and I think that she would definitely be in the running [to be the next Knockouts World Champion] if she was to come back.”

‘The Virtuosa’ then went on to give her stamp of approval to both KiLynn King and Giselle Shaw, predicting that the two will both go on to win the Knockouts World Championship in the future.

“If I’m honest, there’s two people that have my biggest vote of confidence to carry on the legacy of the Knockouts Championship. That is KiLynn King, who I think is absolutely phenomenal. We are wrestling [on Thursday’s episode of IMPACT], I was so excited to find out that I’d have a singles match with her because I was so excited when she got signed to IMPACT and then I was like, hell yeah I want to work with her. So I’m really excited for that match coming up, I just think she’s got it all. She’s such a great wrestler, the gear is great, she knows herself and what she’s good at and what she brings to the table. Being in The Coven was a really great way to bring her in and introduce her to the audience and when she breaks away from whatever that is, she’s going to be a force to be reckoned with. Also, Giselle Shaw. I have said this endlessly, I absolutely love wrestling Giselle, I think she’s phenomenal. I think in the last year, she’s really come into herself and really showed the world that she’s more than just a phenomenal athlete. She’s crazy with what she can do in the ring, but she’s really nailed all of the other little things that we have to worry about. She was just announced to be in that four way at Emergence for the Knockouts Tag Team Championships, and I think if her and Savannah were gonna win that, it will really set the tone for the rest of her career and [show people she can be] a kick ass, legendary Knockouts World Champion as well.”

Gisele Shaw came debuted with IMPACT Wrestling in February of 2022, and has been a glimmer of sunshine in the Knockouts division ever since then. She’s competed in big matches for big titles, including the first IMPACTxNJPW Multiverse United in a #1 contenders match for the IMPACT Knockouts World Title. The winner would move on to Rebellion to challenge Jordynne Grace for the Knockouts World Title. The match consisted of Deonna, Gisele, Masha Slamovich, and Miyu Yamashita, and would end with Purrazzo hitting Shaw with the Queens Gambit and gaining the pinfall.

A few days ago, Deonna Purrazzo laid down a challenge to NJPW Strong Women’s champion Giulia for Multiverse United 2,’only to have the challenge interrupted by Gisele Shaw, who also challenged Stardom talent Giulia for the title. It seems both women will get their shot this Sunday, as well as Stardom star Momo Kohgo chiming in and inserting herself into the match.

After defeating Masha Slamovich a few weeks ago, Gisele Shaw is also slated to team with Savannah Evans for a shot at the IMPACT Knockouts Tag Team Titles at Emergence on August 27th.

KiLynn King debuted with IMPACT at the end of 2022, appearing on a few BTI (Before The Impact) episodes. She then officially debuted on the main roster on March 9th, 2023 when she aligned herself with Taylor Wilde to form The Coven.

One week after aligning with Wilde, The Coven defeated the Death Dollz to become the new IMPACT Knockouts Tag Team Champions. They held those titles until Slammiversary on July 15th when they were defeated by MK Ultra (Masha Slamovich & Killer Kelly).

KiLynn King was the opponent for the debuting Trinity on May 18th in what was a fantastic match by all accords. King and Wilde are slated to get a rematch for the IMPACT Knockouts Tag Team Titles at Emergence on August 27th.

Will The Coven win back their titles, or be forced to move on? We’ll have to tune into Emergence to find out.
