Deonna Purrazzo Name Drops Potential Opponent For Multiverse United 2 Show

Deonna Purrazzo was asked about a preferred opponent for the upcoming Multiverse United show, and gave an answer of someone whom she is somewhat familiar with.

During the IMPACT Slammiversary Press Pass, Deonna was asked if she had a dream opponent for the upcoming Multiverse United show.

”There is one rematch I’d love to have against Mayu Iwatani (at Multiverse United 2). The last time we competed was back in Ring of Honor for the then Women of Honor’s Championship and she defeated me. So I would love to revisit that.”

As referenced in her answer, Deonna & Mayu previously did battle a few years ago as part of a Women of Honor (under Ring of Honor umbrella) tournament to crown a new World Champion. Mayu Iwatani got the better of Deonna the first time around, advancing in the tournament to take on Kelly Klein in the next round.

Mayu Iwatani

Mayu has a very impressive list of accomplishments. Since making her debut in January 2011, she has worked for the STARDOM promotion, becoming a:

-1x World of Stardom Champion
-2x Wonder of Stardom Champion
-1x High Speed Champion
-1x Goddess of Stardom Champion
-3x Artist of Stardom Champion

while also having won the 2015 and 2016 Cinderella Tournaments.

Deonna is currently scheduled to defend her IMPACT Knockouts World Title against Trinity this Saturday at the company Slammiversary Pay Per View.

The IMPACTxNJPW Multiverse United 2: ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’ show is scheduled for Sunday, August 20th. So far, Hiroshi Tanahashi is the only wrestler who has been advertised for the show.
