AEW Collision: 6/17/2023 Preview

June 17, 2023 marks a historical date for All Elite Wrestling. Saturday nights are for fighting, and with more of the company’s roster being utilized, there comes some excitement and unpredictability. For the inaugural episode of AEW Collision, that seems to be the case – after all, a statement needs to be made. This card is absolutely stacked to reflect that and what better place than The United Center in Chicago?

Here is my preview for AEW Collision’s debut episode!

Skye Blue & Willow Nightingale vs Toni Storm & Ruby Soho

After her loss to Toni Storm on the June 13 episode of Dynamite, Skye Blue teams up with her rescuer and NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, Willow Nightingale, as they clash with AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm and her fellow Outcasts mate, Ruby Soho. Skye and Willow are magnetic babyfaces and they could put on a strong showing against the dastardly emerald heathens.

Miro vs TBA

The Redeemer returns, after months of absence, and he’s here to deliver the fear of God to his next victim. What will come of the Bulgarian’s presence back on AEW’s active roster? Who will his opponent be? Why am I asking you all these questions? Whatever the case is, Miro is sure to deliver a fiery performance against whosoever steps foot across the ring from him, seeking absolving of their sins.

Buddy Matthews vs Andrade El Idolo

Speaking of returns, the leader of La Faccion Ingobernables, Andrade, locks up with the House of Black’s residential beefy high-flyer in Buddy Matthews to deliver what is sure to be an intense match filled with excitement and athleticism, and one that could further the stories of both men’s groups. I personally would not mind it if it lead to a trios match between House of Black and LFI.

Wardlow (c) vs Luchasaurus (TNT Championship)

Luchasaurus has not had much matches behind him since pairing with Christian Cage following the turn on Jungle Boy at 2022’s All Out, but he gets a huge opportunity against Wardlow this Saturday night as the dinosaur clashes with the wolf. (I’m just going off of Wardlow’s entrance theme, okay?)

We’ll hear from CM Punk

The Chicago native undoubtedly has words to say. Perhaps they’ll be controversial and have fans talking. Perhaps he’ll tell viewers what he ordered from McDonald’s. I personally think he orders a McRib, and if they’re not available, he goes with Chicken McNuggets, 8pc. He also gets the honey mustard to dip his nugs in. Fans will probably continue infighting regardless.

CM Punk & FTR vs. Samoa Joe & Bullet Club Gold

The money match. The big one. Featuring two tag teams of huge name value, and two blockbuster legends reigniting a rivalry from long ago, this is a fight that will kickstart the beginning of what will be a huge television series going forward. As FTR continues to tend with the presence of Jay White and Juice Robinson, CM Punk and Samoa Joe revisit their history in a meeting a decade in the making.

With a commentary table starring the all star cast of the historical Jim Ross, the honorable Nigel McGuinness, and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s own Kevin Kelly, this is a show that is a can’t miss!
