NJPW Created STRONG Women’s Championship For Mercedes Mone

NJPW created the STRONG Women’s Championship specifically for the former Sasha Banks.

At NJPW Resurgence, the company held a mini tournament to crown the first ever STRONG Women’s Champion. In the finals, Mercedes Mone battled Willow Nightingale, with Willow coming out on on top after Mone suffered a broken ankle.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter now reports the title was originally created for Mone after she extended her deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Mercedes Mone agreed to a longer-term deal with NJPW when her original deal expired on 4/27. The NJPW Strong Championship & belt were created when she agreed to the longer term deal and both were created for her, after she showed strong drawing power for the San Jose show.

WON

We will have to wait and see if Mercedes will be on the hunt for the title when she returns to the ring from her injury.

All at Bodyslam.net wish Mercedes the best in her recovery from this devastating injury.
