Bryan Danielson Says WrestleMania 37 Main Event Meant Nothing To Him

Bryan Danielson headlined WrestleMania for the second time in his WWE career just months before making his AEW debut. He competed in a Triple Threat match for the WWE Universal Championship against Edge and Roman Reigns, which the “Tribal Chief” ultimately won.

The American Dragon subsequently revealed that he did not want to be a part of that WrestleMania match. He recently elaborated on his last WrestleMania match in an interview with Sports Illustrated.

“It didn’t mean anything to me. I felt nothing. You have to remember—it was our first time back in front of a live crowd [since the start of the pandemic], and we were in front of thousands of people. I felt nothing during that match. I was trying my best, but it felt like I was going through the motions. Then I wrestled Roman in the ThunderDome in front of all these screens, and I loved that match. It was the perfect way for me to end my WWE career. Putting together the [WrestleMania] match, I could feel a little bit of my apathy. Something was wrong. It was very glaring to me

Just a few weeks later, Bryan Danielson would decide to leave the company. The former WWE champion left after losing to Roman Reigns in the singles match on April 30, 2021, episode of WWE SmackDown.
