Dana White Announces Glover Teixeira vs. Jamahal Hill for Vacant Light Heavyweight Title at UFC 283 Next Month

Jan Błachowicz vs. Magomed Ankalaev ending in a split-draw for the UFC Light Heavyweight title has resulted in huge plans being made for next month.

UFC President Dana White announced that due to the split-draw, the UFC will be making Glover Teixeira vs. Jamahal Hill for the vacant Light Heavyweight championship next month at UFC 283 in Brazil.

Former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka where he said he was not impressed and that the UFC fans know who the true champion is.

Teixeira last lost to Prochazka for the Light Heavyweight championship at UFC 275, prior to that Teixeira was on a 6-fight win streak that resulted in him defeating then-champion Blachowicz by submission in the 2nd round at UFC 267.

Hill’s last three fights have ended in brutal finishes over Jimmy Crute, Johnny Walker and Thiago Santos. He is the #7 ranked Light Heavyweight and will be the 3rd Dana White Contender Series vet to fight for a UFC championship.

Hill released a video moments after the news was announced and from the looks of it, he is more than ready for next month to enter enemy territory against Teixeira and fight for the Light Heavyweight title.

Teixeira, who was cageside at UFC 282, tried to go into the octagon afterward to face off with the winner; he could not be reached for comment. The Brazilian ex-champ was scheduled to face Jiri Prochazka for the title before a severe shoulder injury to Prochazka resulted in the Czech champ vacating the belt.

Teixeira was offered a fight with Ankalaev, but he said the promotion turned down his request to face the Dagestani fighter one month later at UFC 283.
