Io Shirai looks certain to leave the WWE very soon.
Shirai has been dealing with an injury over the last few months that has kept her off NXT 2.0 programming. Little was known about the injury other than it occurred at the Stand And Deliver event in April of this year.
While speaking on “Wrestling Observer Radio,” Dave Meltzer talked about Io Shirai’s status in WWE. He noted that Io Shirai is pretty much gone from the company.
“Io Shirai’s pretty much got her foot out of the door. Pretty much gone.”

Time will tell if Io will be leaving the WWE upon her contract with the company expiring. Io will leave the WWE a former NXT Tag Champion and NXT Women’s Champion.
