Kamaru Usman Still Eyes Move to Light Heavyweight to Become Double Champion

The Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is still set on fighting for the Light Heavyweight championship after UFC 278.

Usman is set to defend the Welterweight championship vs. Leon Edwards at UFC 278 on August 20th, he did however bring up the idea of him moving up two weight classes to fight for another championship.

The Nigerian Nightmare let it be known that even though he enjoyed the battle between Jiri Prochazka vs. Glover Teixeira for the title at UFC 275, Usman does plan on taking another divisions championship since they feel no one is a challenge for them at Welterweight.

This is not the first time Usman has spoken about moving up, he has said numerous times he is not looking for a fight against friend Israel Adesanya at Middleweight hence the reason for the move up from 175lbs to 205lbs to fight then-champion Jan Blachowicz.

Usman was open to fighting Jan Blachowicz before the former champ lost the belt to Teixeira and even his manager firmly believes Usman can finish all 3 men if he were to move up.

It would be exciting to see Usman move up another weight class to fight for a new championship, whether it’s against Teixeira, Blachowicz or the Light Heavyweight champion Prochazka, it would be an interesting match-up for the Nigerian Nightmare who looks to be remembered as the greatest to ever do it.
