Beneil Dariush Suffers Ankle Injury, Out Of Feb 26th Main Event

UFC top lightweight contender Beneil Dariush is out of next weeks Feb 26th Fight Night card due to an ankle injury. Dariush was set to fight fellow lightweight prospect Islam Makhachev in the main event of said card with the winner likely fighting next for the 155 pound strap following Justin Gaethje’s title challenge vs Charles Oliveira. The news of Dariush’s injury was broken on Twitter Wednesday evening by Ariel Helwani.

Next week’s Islam Makhachev vs. Beneil Dariush main event fight is off, sources say.

Dariush injured his ankle and was forced to withdraw. No word yet on if Makhachev will remain on the card and/or what’s the new Feb. 26 headliner.
