It’s been a few months, but Iron Mike is back.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Tony Khan revealed Mike Tyson would be returning to All Elite Wrestling for the first time in several months. Tyson was last seen on AEW television on the Dynamite following their Double or Nothing pay per view and Khan has been planning his return for quite some time it seems.
There are many reasons I wanted Mike to come back. He made a huge impact last year at Double or Nothing, and we’re at a point where we can bring him back in front of our fans. The fans who have come to the shows in Jacksonville have added so much to AEW, and it’s important for me that our fans get to see him live. We’re excited to have Mike back.
However, it seems like the return is much sooner than anyone realized. Shortly after this interview dropped, AEW revealed that Tyson will be on this week’s episode of Dynamite. A press released issued by AEW touted his return, hyping up that fans will be able to be in attendance for this appearance.
No stranger to the squared circle, Tyson appeared at the DOUBLE OR NOTHING PPV event In May 2020, followed by a memorable AEW DYNAMITE episode where he brawled with Chris Jericho and The Inner Circle. Unlike last May, when there were no fans in attendance at Daily’s Place In Jacksonville, Fla., fans will now have the opportunity to see Tyson in-person this Wednesday night In a safe, live event setting.
AEW seems to be making moves to make sure people have their eyes on AEW instead of night one of NXT TakeOver: Stand And Deliver. While it’s unsure how much of an audience Tyson will pull in for the company, AEW seems ready to deliver a powerful show on the last week of the Wednesday Night War.
