Sheamus Says Cesaro Saved His WWE Career

It feels like Sheamus has been around forever in the WWE. However, some of his best work with the company has come alongside Cesaro. Whether it was as the two of them went to great lengths to beat up one another for their best of 7 series, or as members of The Bar, the duo for several years had become synonymous with one another. Even three WrestleMania appearances as a team only confirmed that. While Cesaro and Sheamus look back fondly at their tenure as a team, Sheamus says his time with Cesaro only did far more.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Sheamus revealed that he truly believes Cesaro saved his WWE career. Whether it was injuries or just floundering somewhere, Sheamus believes that working with Cesaro may have kept him around.

“If it wasn’t for him, I don’t know if I’d still be in WWE,” Sheamus says. “I’d just finished with League of Nations, which didn’t work, and I didn’t know where I was going. Cesaro had just come back from a shoulder injury, and he didn’t know where he was going. Then they put us in the best of seven. By the time we’d wrestled twice, it felt like people were already over it. But we tried to do something different with our fights, and it won the crowd over.”

“We knew each other before we teamed together in the Bar, and we were always cordial to one another, but now we’re brothers. He helped me improve my ring work and relax a whole lot more in the ring. I wouldn’t be where I am right now without him.”

Sheamus and Cesaro might not be on the same brand, but the two have become close friends with Cesaro a guest often on his Celtic Warrior Workout YouTube channel. And even if they aren’t on the same show, you can bet the two are cheering the other on.
