AEW And New Japan Pro Wrestling Now Have A Working Relationship

AEW vs. NJPW: Dream Matches (Part Two)

Last night’s AEW Dynamite saw the shocking debut of KENTA, who attacked Jon Moxley after weeks of chasing him down for the IWGP United States Title. It also did far more than just provide a shock moment to continue the build toward the long awaited match between the two for the title, it was the official announcement that the long forbidden door is now open.

It’s true, AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling now have a working relationship.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the partnership and how it’s now official. A lot of work was involved in getting the partnership together, including convincing NJPW that AEW was not just a flash in the pan.

“The deal is done and the two sides have a working relationship. The pandemic sped it up, but it also holds it back at the same time. You know, the only way to get Moxley was to make a deal. When AEW first started, New Japan had no clue has successful they’d be. There are a lot of things about it.”

It was said that NJPW reportedly thought AEW were “fly by nighters” and the company “big leagued them, but they were wrong.” It is now official though, AEW and NJPW have now formed a partnership. Let the dream match debates begin.
