Chris Jericho Questions COVID-19 Restrictions

The COVID-19 pandemic has killed over 350,000 people in the United States, with over 21 million people infected in the country alone. A disease that has killed almost 2 million people in the entire world is hardly something to sneeze at. The global pandemic has left people in dire financial situations, fear, and sadness over lost loved ones.

According to Chris Jericho, the pandemic isn’t that bad.

Jericho discussed the COVID-19 pandemic on Talk Is Jericho this week in an episode called “The Conspiracies of 2020” where he discussed the numbers over COVID-19 and downplayed the seriousness of this disease. Jericho went on to say how he’s lucky to be in Florida, where there are a million cases alone.

“You would think if you take the two examples of California and Florida, if the cases are gonna be the same, then why not just stay open and protect the people who are at risk? People with pre-existing conditions, the elderly, I get that. But for me, as a very healthy, just turned 50 year old guy who once again is training every day and is wrestling every week, I don’t see any reason why it should be shut down if I can keep the lights on for other people who can’t work right now because they are at risk.”

The continued lockdown measures aren’t just for at-risk people but for the safety of others. COVID-19 continues to affect people of all ages, and to downplay the dangers of it because of your own personal health is a disservice to the people who are at risk the most. Needless to say, Jericho has courted controversy with his opinions on COVID-19 and American politics on social media and his podcast previously.
