Comedian Ron Funches Throws Shade At Hulk Hogan Interview

Comedian Ron Funches is a notorious pro wrestling fan and hasn’t been afraid to weigh in on things.

In November when Chris Jericho made a controversial tweet about the process of the United States election, Funches called out Jericho after he said “I’m not a political person” after reminding him Jericho made several contributions to the Donald Trump campaign. Now, he’s not afraid to call out another wrestler and this time it’s Hulk Hogan.

Hogan said in a recent interview that some younger members of the WWE locker room aren’t as welcoming to him as he would like, his defense being that they have nothing to worry about because he’s retired and not looking for their spot. Funches RTed the article and gave not so vague response who he feels those people might be.

Using a GIF of The New Day doing their famous “Who?” routine, Funches made it clear he knows exactly who he believes Hogan is talking about. Funches might have a point, as well. After Hogan was “reinstated” to the WWE fold in 2018, The New Day reacted by releasing a statement on Kofi Kingston’s Twitter account, talking about how they were indifferent to Hogan’s reinstatement into the company, and that they were choosing not to support or go against the company’s decision. They added that they were waiting to see if Hogan had made a genuine effort to change. Titus O’Neil RT’ed the statement and said he was in full agreement with the trio. Even Mark Henry had said black members of the WWE roster were split 50/50 on Hogan’s return.

WWE is full of minority athletes who recognize the racism in Hogan’s past and they’ve not been afraid to call out someone for polarizing remarks that are counterproductive to a more harmonious locker room. Jaxson Ryker’s anti-Black Lives Matter sentiments on social media earned him a lot of heat in the locker room, and the WWE recognized how toxic he had created the locker room. Hogan’s attitude has rubbed several people the wrong way throughout his career, and now that he is no longer considered the top draw of a company, some of that resentment is easier to vocalize, in addition to the repercussions of his words.

Hogan will be part of tonight’s Legends Night on Raw, but there’s a good bet a handful of talent won’t be too thrilled to see him.
