AEW Postpones New Year’s Smash In Favor Of Brodie Lee Tribute Show

AEW was scheduled to hold the first night of its New Year’s Smash shows this Wednesday on Dynamite, a two-show event to cap off their 2020 and ring in 2021 in style. Now, with the death of Brodie Lee, All Elite Wrestling has changed their plans.

The New Year’s Smash show has now been postponed to January 6th and January 13th, as AEW will be using Wednesday night to dedicate airtime to paying tribute to The Exalted One. Tony Khan took to Twitter to announce that the show will include tributes to Lee, along with a special card of matches dedicated to him. Khan announced the matches as follows, all of which feature members of The Dark Order. We will have results from Dynamite on Bodyslam Wednesday evening.

  • Cody Rhodes, Orange Cassidy, & Preston “10” Vance vs. Team Taz (Brian Cage, Ricky Starks, & Powerhouse Hobbs)
  • The Young Bucks & Colt Cabana vs. Matt Hardy & Private Party
  • Hangman Page, John Silver, & Alex Reynolds vs. MJF, Santana, & Ortiz
  • Anna Jay & Tay Conti vs. Britt Baker & Penelope Ford
  • Lance Archer, Evil Uno & Stu Grayson vs. Eddie Kingston, The Butcher, & The Blade
