Jim Ross Says He Would Rather Wrestlers “Go To Their Room And Smoke A Joint, Order A Pizza, and Watch A Movie” Than Go Out To A Bar

Professional wrestlers getting into trouble and being involved in bar fights is not uncommon, as some of the businesses top stars have had their run ins with law enforcement.

One of those stories involved former WWE Superstar, the late Umaga, who passed away back in December of 2009. On a recent episode of “Grilling JR,” hosts Conrad Thompson and Jim Ross talked about an incident with Umaga where he was involved in a bar fight with police officers.

During the discussion Jim Ross gave his opinion on wrestlers going out to bars and drinking, and he said that he would much rather them go back to their room, smoke a joint, order a pizza and watch a movie instead of going out to bars and risking getting in trouble.

JR said:

“I tell our guys, sometimes they don’t understand.. I told them, you’re not the alpha male. That bar is already somebody else’s territory. And when you try to become and elbow your way into the alpha male category of this specific bar, it isn’t gonna float real well. That’s why going to these bars, and especially going alone makes no sense. It’s ridiculous.

I’d rather them go to their room and smoke a joint, order a pizza. Watch a movie. And go to sleep. Well that ain’t any fun. Well, I’ve had fun smoking dope, and eating pizza and watching movies. You can do that. Ya know, you really can. But it keeps you out of harm’s way, so to speak. And the younger guys full of piss and vinegar, and adrenaline.. testosterone is flowing freely, and their body is still making lots of testosterone.. They don’t see those as limitations. They’re going to go into that bar and become the alpha male. If I wanna play pool. I wanna take over the table. If I want somebody’s girlfriend to sit with me, that’s what I’m going to try to accomplish. It’s just not wise.”
