Johnny Gargano Calls Austin Theory His “Adopted Son” While Celebrating North American Title Win
Johnny Gargano became a 3-time NXT North American Champion tonight at TakeOver: War Games, but he did it in underhanded fashion.
After a flurry of people in Ghostface masks attacked Damian Priest, one of them stood out the most and nailed Priest with a pipe. This attack allowed Gargano to have Leon Ruff all to himself, who he then pinned to regain the title. Following the attack, the Ghostface unmasked and revealed himself to be the returning Austin Theory.
In a backstage promo after his match, Gargano cemented their partnership as he put over Theory, saying the two have been hanging out for weeks in preparation for this alliance. Vowing that Theory would now have a family in Candice LeRae, Indi Hartwell, and himself, Johnny called Theory his adopted son.
It seems like WWE has brought back Austin Theory in a big storyline to NXT, so we shall see how it unfolds starting this coming week on NXT. You can view the promo below.
