Anna Jay Talks About Shoulder Injury That Sidelined Her For Almost A Year Prior To Working Her First Ever Match

The Dark Order’s no. 99, Anna Jay recently wrestled AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida on Dynamite in a losing effort. Anna Jay also has been given the honor of being nominated for PWI’s Rookie Of The Year, and has been turning heads ever since making her debut with All Elite Wrestling earlier this year.

Anna Jay was a guest on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, and her young career was discussed. In addition to debuting with the company in just her 5th ever professional match, Anna talked about a shoulder injury that she suffered right when she first began training.

“It happened for the first time in 2018, around Thanksgiving, I dislocated my shoulder at training. I was literally sliding out of the ring on my stomach, I was in the corner and we were just doing a drill. QT comes over and is like, ‘are you okay?’ ‘Nope.’ My shoulder was down here. I was taken to the emergency room, they put me to sleep, and put it back in. Nothing was torn then, I just had to take a month off to let everything heal. I kept training and then in April 2019, I was giving a bodyslam to someone and ended up dislocating it again, and torn my labrum and chipped off bone. I got that checked out, they told me I needed surgery. I couldn’t use my right arm for six weeks. I was out for eight months.”

Anna Jay signed a deal with AEW back in April of this year, just 4 months back from the shoulder injury which sidelined her for almost a year. Despite only wrestling a handful of matches on the independent scene (four matches to be exact.) and then suffering a serious injury just as she began her training, Anna Jay was able to overcome the concerns she faced when getting back into the ring.
