Mustafa Ali’s year had him have a run as the mysterious hacker on SmackDown that played a major factor in the union of Otis and Mandy Rose. His information revealed that Dolph Ziggler had been trying to sabotage their budding relationship, and even the meddling of Rose’s friend Sofia Deville.
Then last night on Raw, the leader of Retribution had his faction attack Tucker and a fan on Reddit went straight to the conspiracy theory idea. The fan proposed that Mustafa Ali had been a friend to Otis this whole time, having exposed those trying to sabotage and bully Otis, and now targeting the man who betrayed his former tag team partner.
In what was more likely fortunate happenstance for the creative team than actual long term storytelling by the company, Mustafa Ali revealed on Raw Talk last night that the reason Retribution attacked Tucker was exactly that, the fact he turned on Otis. While all of these factors have led fans to believe that Ali is still a good guy being portrayed as a villain, this is more likely a result of Mustafa Ali trying to work in all the loose ends he’s had to deal with this year than the WWE creative team actually having ideas to work with.
