Jim Ross Puts Over Former Member Of Commentary Team

This weeks episode of Grilling JR was centered around No Mercy 2000. Jim Ross has high praise for his former WWE commentary partner Jerry “The King” Lawler.

When asked how much fun is was doing commentary with Lawler, JR replied

We never rehearsed a single line in all the years we worked together. It wasn’t like you say this, I’ll say that. We just had chemistry. I was very, very blessed to be working such a talented guy because Jerry made me better. He kept me on my game and spoke to our unit, spoke to our team. We were pretty I thought. A lot of people would say JR and The King are the best wrestling broadcast team ever. I don’t know if we were that but we were in the damn conversation, no doubt about that

Ross would continue:

A lot of that was contributed to Jerry who did not study, we’d get notes, bullet points, he rarely read them as best I could tell you. His was instinct, he understood the product really, really well and so then he was able to translate what he was seeing into a marketable and entertaining commentary. That’s how talented he was.
