Is Abadon A Future Champion In AEW?

After making her AEW debut on Dark at the beginning of March this year, Abadon was an instant favourite amongst a portion of the AEW fanbase. Her arrival is one of the most viewed singular Dark matches in the promotion’s year-long history, a match with now AEW women’s world champion, Hikaru Shida.

Abadon makes her debut in Denver, Colorado

Though Shida was victorious, Abadon had clearly left an impression on her. Showing signs of fear towards Abadon throughout the fight and fans being utterly bewildered by this totally unique individual. In defeat, we didn’t see Abadon again… until June.

AEW had hyped up a match for Anna Jay on Dynamite, with fans expecting this to be the beginning of a push for Jay but in a swerve move, Abadon returned. She destroyed Jay in next to no time and in those few short moments, AEW had created a new star that added a unique presence to their women’s division. A presence who doesn’t need to cut promos to be a credible threat and has a look that no one can forget.

So to address the headline question; 100% yes. There is no reason that Abadon couldn’t be champion one day, perhaps sooner rather than later. She has had a few matches since her return and her only loss was to Shida on her debut. Don’t be surprised to see her get a title shot before the end of 2020.

The ‘living dead girl’ has only just gotten started.
