Rebooking WrestleMania 27

Wrestlemania 27 is regarded as one of the worst WrestleManias in WWE history. Built around a show that would see Triple H challenge the Undertaker, and The Miz defending the WWE Championship against John Cena in the main event, with The Rock hosting the show. The show would also a feature a hidden gem in CM Punk vs Randy Orton and the last match in 9 years for Edge.

However, Wrestlemania 27 was a complete let down due to poor booking decisions and everyone being dissapointed with being given Cena vs Miz instead of Cena vs The Rock.

I think I can book Wrestlemania 27 better.

Daniel Bryan vs Dolph Ziggler United States Championship – Daniel Bryan was scheduled to defend the United States Championship on this show against Sheamus, but the match didn’t make the final card due to time restrictions. What better way to open a Wrestlemania show, than by featuring two of the absolute best wrestlers and brightest young stars in the company.

Bryan and Ziggler had a fantastic match at Bragging Rights in 2010 and I have no doubt they could do the same thing on a even grander stage with more people watching. The build up to this match would be simple, Dolph Ziggler wins a number 1 contenders match on TV in order to set this match up. The two men would play off their match from Bragging Rights, and would want to prove who the better wrestler is. Daniel Bryan would continue his quest to defend the championship with honor, and Ziggler would want to prove he’s just better than Bryan.

Winner – Daniel Bryan retains the United States Championship via the Labell Lock (That’s Vintage).

Cody Rhodes vs Rey Mysterio – This match did actually happen for real and it turned out to be one of the better matches on the Wrestlemania card, so I have no issues with this match taking place. Rey Mysterio actually requested to work with Cody, and Cody delierved big time in this fued. The build up would be just like in real life where, Cody would blame Rey for injuring his beautiful face and making him ugly. So Cody would want to unmask Rey, so he could prove to the world how flawed and hideous Rey Mysterio is.

Winner – Cody Rhodes via CrossRhodes

Randy Orton vs CM Punk – This match also happened in real life and once again I have no problem booking this match. The build up would once again would be similar to what happened in real life, with CM punk taking control of the Nexus and getting revenge on Randy Orton for what Randy did to him at Unforgiven in 2008. Randy Orton would take out each member of the Nexus until he gets to Punk.

Winner – Randy Orton via RKO

Edge vs Alberto Del Rio – World Heavyweight Championship – Once again just like in real life this match would happen if I had to rebook this show. I would’ve made this match a triple threat between Edge, Christian anf Alberto Del Rio but I didn’t do it because I don’t know if Christian was cleared to compete during the build up between Del Rio and Edge. Alberto Del Rio actually had main event level potential coming in to WWE, which is why he was pushed so heavily very early. Alberto Del Rio would win the Royal Rumble setting this match up. Del Rio would continue to say that it’s his destiny to win the World Championship.

Winner – Edge via Spear

Sheamus vs Triple H – No Holds Barred – If you remember at Extreme Rules 2010 Sheamus would brutally beat down Triple H taking him off TV for the rest of the year. Instead of having Triple H target the Undertaker, lets have him resume this issue with Sheamus. Sheamus around the year 2011 was a main event peformer and him beating Triple H at Wrestlemania would do a lot for Sheamus.

Winner – Sheamus via Brogue Kick

John Morrison vs The Miz WWE Championship – In the year 2011 WWE desperatly needed to make new mainevent stars. With Chris Jericho not being around, Edge having to retire, Triple H and The Undertaker being part time, Wrestlemania would’ve been the perfect time to start building up new stars, and what better way to begin then with John Morrison and The Miz. John Morrison had top babyface level potential, in 2011 and he had the perfect heel foil in The Miz. The Miz was a great WWE champion in 2011 and a Miz Morrison fued for the WWE Championship really would’ve elevated both men. You can play up the history between Miz and Morrison, and you can give both men a wrestlemania moment to truly remember.

Winner – John Morrison via Starship Pain

The Undertaker vs John Cena – This is the main event of the show. The two biggest names in company history, going one on one. The Streak vs The guy who never gives up. Imagine the drama, going into this match, the near falls, the hatred fans would feel for Cena going into a match with the Undertaker.

Winner – The Undertaker via Tombstone

This concludes the rebooking of Wrestlemania 27. I tried to put matches together that make sense while booking a show everyone wants to see. Hope you enjoyed it
