Renee Young – WWE Denied First Release

Renee Paquette (WWE’s Renee Young) hasn’t held back in media interviews following her WWE departure last month.

Paquette spoke to “Sports Media with Richard Deitsch” about her time in WWE, where she worked for nearly a decade. However, her time with the company could have been much shorter lived.

Paquette’s last appearance was this year’s SummerSlam, but she initially requested a release from WWE several years ago, which was denied. Paquette said that ultimately might have been a blessing in disguise as she has received a number of opportunities since including co-hosting “WWE Backstage” on Fox Sports 1 along with Booker T.

“When I had actually thought about leaving WWE several years ago and I was not granted my release at the time because I was under a talent contract but they wouldn’t let me out of that contract, and it turned out to be a good thing. I got to do a ton of stuff beyond that that I wouldn’t have the career that I have today had I not been there for the past three years.”

Paquette also spoke about her experience with COVID-19, which reportedly brought some heat with the company after Paquette announced she had tesed positive.

As of now, Paquette’s future in the business is unknown. Paquette, who is married to AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, could possibly join her husband there but is currently under a 90-day non-compete clause. She also still has a working relationship with Fox Sports despite production ceasing on “WWE Backstage” due to COVID-19.

Paquette also had a cookbook, “Messy In The Kitchen: My Guide to Eating Deliciously, Hosting Fabulously, and Drinking Copiously,” due out next spring.
