Impact Wrestling Update – Tessa Blanchard Demanded $150k To Return World Title, TNA Title A Counterfeit?

Tessa Blanchard may be the daughter of the legendary Tully Blanchard, but it seems as though she may have more in common with another member of the Four Horsemen.

It has been reported that before Slammiversary, Tessa was demanding $150,000 from Impact Wrestling before she would return their Impact World Championship belt. Similar to Ric Flair demanding $25,000 to return WCW’s Big Gold Belt in 1991, Blanchard seemingly held her former employers to ransom on her way out, leading to the promotion taking the easy way put and simply commissioning a new set of belts to be made for Slammiversary.

The new champisonhip belts now use silver plating rather than the old style gold, and honestly, they look much nicer. On top of this revelation, it also turns out that the self-proclaimed TNA Champion Moose is apparently using a cheap, counterfeit belt imported from Pakistan.

All of this information comes from Twitter user @BeltFanDan, who is a well-connected and informed figure in the belt-making scene. Dan has a history of revealing new titles, when they will be introduced and general info on new straps. Dan was responding to question asked by a fan on Twitter.

Blanchard left Impact as their reigning World Champion back in June. The promotion chose to release her just five days before he contract was due to expire on 30 June, meaning that they could strip her of the gold in the process and avoid her taking it elsewhere. This decision was made off the back of several reported behavioural issues, including an apparent refusal from Tessa to submit pretaped content while in quarantine.

Tessa was holed up in Mexico and unable to travel, which led to Impact fearing that she would no-show her scheduled title loss at Slammiversary on 18 July. Instead, the title was made vacant and was won by Eddie Edwards on the night in a Fatal 5 Way which gestured reyurning Impact favourite Eric Young.
