Kenny Omega Says That Barbwire Used In Match With Jon Moxley At Full Gear Was Not Gimmicked

Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley battled in a brutal non-sanctioned lights out match recently at AEW’s Full Gear PPV. The match featured lots of hardcore spots, one of which included a “tangled web” of barbwire that saw both Omega and Moxley go through it, or into it if you will.

Kenny Omega was recently a guest on Wrestling Observer Radio, where he discussed the lights out match with Moxley from Full Gear. During the interview Omega revealed that the barbwire used was not gimmicked, and that everything used was legit.

“A lot of people had suggested to cut the barbs or shave them down, or whatever, but then after speaking to a couple of death match dudes they say, ‘No you leave them because it’s better to be pierced by them than be scratched by them.’ Because those are the ones that leave the actual scars. So they were just tiny little holes that healed really easily. I mean right now it looks like I have a bad case of backne and that’s it.”

Omega added that he is fine and healing up nicely following the match, but said that the areas where the barbwire pierced his skin are still itchy and bothering him. Kenny also stated that the worst part of the match for him was taking the bump on the exposed wood of the ring after Moxley pulled the mat and canvas away.
