Beulah McGillicutty On Big Leaguing Vince McMahon And If WWE Ever Contacted Her To Work For Them

Longtime fans remember Beulah McGillicutty as a trendsetter in wrestling. She had the first pregnancy angle in wrestling, was one of the first women to have an intergender match (which was an absolute bloodbath) and had the first two woman kiss on a wrestling program. Married to Tommy Dreamer and the mother of twin daughters, Beulah is pretty much finished with professional wrestling.

She rarely does appearances or podcasts, but made and exception for her husband Tommy Dreamer. Tommy and Beulah spend two episodes talking about her career and why she left wrestling. One highlight of the interview was Beulah’s first interaction with Vince McMahon and why she left the wrestling business.

Tommy Dreamer: What lead to you wanting to leave (wrestling)

Beulah McGillicutty: Um, I don’t know there were a couple of things. I think in any kind of entertainment business, it’s hard, I felt like people, I still have some really good friends from ECW. I felt like a few were only being nice to me because they knew I was dating you and you had influence on what was being written. I’m just the kind of person of what you see is what you get. So I think my self worth was starting to plummet a little bit. I just kind of felt like, do people like me? Do I have true friends? Do people like me because I am Beulah or do they like me because I am Teresa. Who do they really like? I was thinking about it and thinking about my future and decided that I needed to go back to college. It was time to go.

It’s one of those things and I’m sure it’s that way in Hollywood and places like that. It feels like everyone had an ulterior motive, they are so nice to your face. I couldn’t stand that, even when we did that little stint in WWE. Where we went as ECW and I had heard Vince (McMahon) was talking about somebody and said something like “oh he’s great and this that and the other” and when we got there and we walked in, he pretended like he didn’t know who the kid was.

Tommy : This was in the make-up chair. Tell the audience about your first ever meeting with good ol’ Vince.

Beulah: Okay, when I knew he knew who this kid was and then he said “I am Vince McMahon, and you are?” and the kid had to introduce himself and I was just like, and I knew that he knew who he was and he was just trying to make him feel little. Then it got me angry, so I went up to him (Vince) and I said “I’m Beulah and you are?”

Tommy: and what did he say?

Beulah: “Vince McMahon” and I said “Oh, nice to meet you”

Tommy: Oh yeah, you’ll never get hired there

House Of Hardcore podcast

Beulah then denied that she ever had a meeting with WWE or an interview for a position. Tommy said that on Something To Wrestle with Bruce Prichard, Bruce said that Beulah came in for an interview but that WWE wasn’t interested and Beulah shot that rumor down.

Be sure to check out the full podcast here. Beulah shares many stories like when RVD threw her over the FBI onto the concrete, why she kicked Bill Alfonso in the groin as hard as she could and a plethora of other great stories.
