Big Show Is Very Upset At Government’s Proposed Budget Cuts To Special Olympics

TMZ released a short video today featuring The Big Show. The Big Show is a Global Ambassador for the Special Olympics and cares deeply for the help and support the Special Olympics brings children around the world.

The budget cuts were proposed by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

Appearing before a House subcommittee Tuesday to review the department’s proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year, DeVos said, “We had to make some difficult decisions.”
DeVos’s remarks came in response to questions from Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.), who pressed her on the amount of kids the budget cut would impact.

“I don’t know the number of kids,” DeVos said before Pocan answered that 272,000 kids would be impacted.

The budget proposed by President Trump and supported by DeVos calls for nearly $18 million in cuts to the Special Olympics.
Last year, DeVos donated a portion of her salary to the Special Olympics, according to Politico.

The Hill

Big Show was interviewed by TMZ about the hearing and asked him his thoughts on the cuts.

That $18,000,000 is the entire allocated budget for Special Olympics. She is basically saying “we are not giving government support to Special Olympics”. She is trying to cut after school programs. This runs deeper than that.

I am an ambassador for Special Olympics, but I am also an ambassador for good will and doing the right thing. You can’t cut programs like this…

The message she is sending is that children with special needs aren’t important enough to be a part of society…

Big Show

I suggest you watch the entire video. Big Show brings up so many good points on how it will effect the population. He also brings up the fact that after school programs will be cut. Big Show says that low income families, working multiple jobs, depend on those programs to help their kids. This is laying the groundwork for a whole generation to be forgotten and left behind.

We here at Bodyslam fully support Big Show and his stance on the budget cuts. Like Show said, this isn’t political. This is about doing the ring thing.
