WWE Releases Statement Regarding John Cena And Daniel Bryan’s Refusal To Appear For Crown Jewel

Despite being under fire and getting a lot of backlash for hosting Crown Jewel at Saudi Arabia due to the government allegedly murdering a Washington Post journalist, WWE decided to go through with plans.

But both Cena and Daniel Bryan’s status is in question as neither of them wants to take part in the event, for their own moral reasons.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Daniel Bryan will definitely not be going to Saudi Arabia, which made WWE release the following statement.

“As always, we maintain an open line of communication with our performers and will address each situation accordingly.”

Bryan Alvarez discussed this on Wrestling Observer Live, where he talked about both of them still being advertised and the likelihood of them not coming. This is what he said:

“Now, Monday and Tuesday the feeling was that the show was in great jeopardy of not taking place in Saudi Arabia. It’s possible that they said, “We’re not doing the show in Saudi Arabia” and the company said, ‘It’s probably not taking place in Saudi Arabia so let’s keep the matches’ and that’s what they did.”

“Now it seems they’re absolutely going to Saudi Arabia so on Monday and Tuesday we’ll find out if there’s anything from that story. It’s been days and WWE hasn’t said anything about that story. But on Monday and Tuesday if they shoot angles taking them off the show, then you’ll know why.”

At this point, it’s uncertain whether they will go for Crown Jewel or not, even if they get paid more money. So we will have to wait until the event to see what happens.
