Is AEW’s Roster Too Bloated?

Over the weekend, the conversation AEW’s roster being to bloated started again due to AEW offering a contract to Nick Wayne. But is AEW’s roster bloated?

One of the interesting things about AEW despite being formwd just 3 years ago is their investment on young wrestlers. This isn’t surprising considering Tony Khan’s experience on American Football and Association Football. Were investing on young talent with potential is a recurring thing. That’s why signing the likes of Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta and others is a smart long term plan, we have to remember that the likes of Kenny Omega, Bryan Danielson are closer to their eventual retirements and creating new stars is important and the logical move.

AEW’s roster is in a way bloated, especially considering WWE and the interesting wrestlers they are releasing and you would be a fool not signing them, like we saw recently with Keith Lee.

AEW is already making moves regarding the bloated roster with letting some contracts expire and looking their options. Freeing those contracts allows the promotion to get new talent to the roster.

The next big moves regarding the AEW roster should be towards the women’s division and any interesting free agents available like Athena (Ember Moon) and rising talents from the indies. AEW should also look in Japan for Joshi talent to their women’s roster.

At the end of the day, most people complaining about the bloated roster in AEW are just making bad faith arguments and are making the choice of ignoring the long term plan of certain signings, like we saw recently with Nick Wayne who is someone with a lot of buzz in the indies and a lot of potential.
