Kevin Owens Re-Signs With WWE

Following months of anticipation regarding the contractual status of WWE’s “Prizefighter,” Kevin Owens has reportedly re-signed with the promotion ahead of his WWE Championship match at WWE Day One.

Fightful Select is reporting that Owens will stay put in WWE, where he is a former Universal Champion and 2x Intercontinental Champion. This ends a saga a few months long where reports stated that the WWE’s main priority was maintaining Owens, while Owens was teasing a potential jump to AEW on his social media. Per Fightful, the AEW talent that they spoke to didn’t expect that AEW would “realistically match what WWE would offer him to stay with the company.”

Owens, who was originally under a longer-term deal, had restructured his contract in 2019 and it was set to expire sometime in the final days of January 2022. The only terms known as of right now are that it is a multi-year extension.

Owens is set to compete against current WWE Champion Big E, as well as former champions Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley on New Year’s Day as he looks to capture the WWE Championship for the first time in his seven year tenure.

Bodyslam will keep you updated as more details regarding the extension of the Kevin Owens Show become available.
