Will Ospreay is one of the biggest names in the professional wrestling industry as the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion rose to prominence in 2016, becoming an immediate staple on New Japan television. Ospreay, who also works for RevPro, was announced in October as the latest competitor for MLW. He was set to make his debut during the autumn.

According to a report from Michael Reichlin of SES Scoops, Ospreay is no longer set to appear for MLW in the foreseeable future. According to Reichlin, Ospreay himself confirmed that the deal is off.

It’s clarified that MLW and New Japan’s working relationship has ended altogether, as MLW informed NJPW that they now have a partnership with AllJapan Pro Wrestling. NJPW, whose main competitor is AJPW, are currently working with Pro Wrestling NOAH ahead of next month’s WrestleKingdom extravaganza.

In recent weeks, MLW has seemingly taken advantage of a rather strong free agent market. MLW recently issued an “open-door” policy for free agents. This policy will allow free agents to compete for MLW without signing exclusive deals that limit their working options. Only time will tell, but this should help MLW attract some bigger names within the industry.
