Magnum TA Says Tessa Blanchard Wanted A Pay Day Equivalent To Top Male Talent To Appear At Slammiversary
Tessa Blanchard became the story of the summer with her release from Impact Wrestling. The then-current World Champion asked for her release from the company which was eventually granted, not before stories leaked about alleged issues during the release. Stories like Blanchard asking for a significant sum of money to return the title to the company were abound, which her team denied.
Eventually, Blanchard was released from her contract, weeks before she was scheduled to defend her title at Slammiversary and days before her contract was scheduled to expire. One person had a lot to say about her stint as World Champion and how it all went down, and talked to Hannibal TV about it.
Magnum TA is Blanchard’s stepfather and spoke up on some of the stories surrounding the situation, saying that Blanchard’s dispute with the company involved the fact all she wanted was to be paid like one of the top talents with the company for the one last date. The former NWA legend said that his stepdaughter had met all of her obligated dates for the company and was just trying to get a pay day equivalent to the company’s top male performer to make the appearance.
“They wanted her to extend her contract and the opportunity of that experience that IMPACT afforded her was a step in her growth. She needed to move on from that. She hadn’t extended her contract and they were paying her peanuts. She had met all her contractual dates. All I told her was, take whatever their top paid guy is and figure what that would equate to in one month’s salary and say, ‘if you want me to come in and do this since I’ve met my obligations, this is what it would take.’ It wasn’t a ridiculous amount of money as rumored. It was just, ‘if we’re going to extend it, extend it for the equivalent of what you’re paying your top guy.’ They didn’t want to do it.”
Whether true or not, Blanchard has not confirmed almost any story surrounding her Impact exit, as she has been mostly inactive during the pandemic outside an appearance at Warrior Wrestling in September. Blanchard has been reportedly taking time off to enjoy her marriage to fellow wrestler Daga. You can watch the clip of Magnum talking about Tessa below.
