WWE Names Paul Heyman And Eric Bischoff As Executive Directors

What a time it is to be a wrestling fan. WWE’s attendance and ratings are down. AEW is getting footing as the number two wrestling promotion in the country and WWE is retaliating by counter programming. It appears WWE is also bringing names from the past to help their companies direction.

Sports Illustrated broke the exclusive news today.

Heyman is set to become Executive Director of Monday Night Raw, while Bischoff will fill the same role for SmackDown Live. Both will report directly to WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.
WWE confirmed the news with Sports Illustrated, with an official announcement expected later today.
The two positions are full-time executive roles, with no plans at the current time for this to be introduced as part of a TV storyline.

Bischoff will also work directly with executives from FOX, which will air SmackDown Livebeginning this October.

One thing that is noticeable here is that Conrad Thompson now has a podcast with two WWE employees and one AEW commentator. Eric and Bruce Prichard have 83 Weeks and Something To Wrestle With respectively, while Jim Ross has Grilling JR. The only podcast partner of Conrad’s not signed to the top two companies is Tony Schiavone who is going to rejoin MLW as a broadcaster.

WWE is seemingly fighting a real war with AEW and now created their own war with Smackdown and Raw. What a time to be a fan.
